What a Conundrum

You Are Not Ready To Hear

Have you ever tried to talk to someone but had to stop because they were not ready to hear the more that you had to say? I had to turn for help on what to do. I found John 16:12 where Jesus said,

“I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.”

Hope Deferred or Sick Hearts

Jesus taught that He was King and that idea became the disciples’ future. But now He says He is “going away” and the world was coming behind and will kill them! This sounds like the despair you would feel if you put a lot of stock and hope in a President to turn the country around only to find your country so corrupt that we can’t even hold simple elections and your man doesn’t succeed. What do you do?

Similarly, what were these disciples to do when things seemed so dark? How does one comfort such troubled hearts? What does one say in light of this and in light of the fact that they were not ready to hear any more about it? What a conundrum.

Well, miraculously Jesus continues. We see His Father provided for Him everything He needs to complete His ministry and with this powerful example we can rest assured we too will have everything we need for our ministry as well.

This is definitely one of my favorite MacArthur sermons as it brings to life the Word of Life.

John 16:12-14

“I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. “He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.
