‘Holy Hell’ Over Torture Memos

clipped from www.newsweek.com
As reported by NEWSWEEK, the White House last month had accepted a recommendation from Attorney General Eric Holder to declassify and publicly release three 2005 memos that graphically describe harsh interrogation techniques approved for the CIA to use against Al Qaeda suspects. But after the story, U.S. intelligence officials, led by senior national-security aide John Brennan, mounted an intense campaign to get the decision reversed, according to a senior administration official familiar with the debate. “Holy hell has broken loose over this,” said the official, who asked not to be identified because of political sensitivities.

Get on Your Knees and Pray – You Don’t Get Fooled Again!

The financial industry brought the economy to its knees, but how did they get away with it? With the nation wondering how to hold the bankers accountable, Bill Moyers sits down with William K. Black, the former senior regulator who cracked down on banks during the savings and loan crisis of the 1980s. Black offers his analysis of what went wrong and his critique of the bailout

BILL MOYERS: Yeah. Are you saying that Timothy Geithner, the Secretary of the Treasury, and others in the administration, with the banks, are engaged in a cover up to keep us from knowing what went wrong?
WILLIAM K. BLACK: Absolutely.
WILLIAM K. BLACK: I don’t know whether we’ve lost our capability of outrage. Or whether the cover up has been so successful that people just don’t have the facts to react to it.

“And a final word to you arrogant rich: Take some lessons in lament. You’ll need buckets for the tears when the crash comes upon you. Your money is corrupt and your fine clothes stink. Your greedy luxuries are a cancer in your gut, destroying your life from within. You thought you were piling up wealth. What you’ve piled up is judgment. All the workers you’ve exploited and cheated cry out for judgment. The groans of the workers you used and abused are a roar in the ears of the Master Avenger. You’ve looted the earth and lived it up. The Forgotten Man in the War on Terror

The light and joy of the Christmas season has been darkened by the sad fact that we are in a forgotten war. War is peace for how long America?

When the president has the power to label anyone an enemy combatant and detain that person indefinitely without trial, no liberty exists. In this week’s vodcast, John Whitehead argues that freedom and democracy are mere platitudes unless the ideals and values they represent are put into practice.

For Republicans Only; Everyone Else Keep Informing Others

Here is an example to follow.

Republicans say what many Christians want to hear. In addition, because they say they are Christians many believe them and faithfully but blindly support them. Eventually, they find out how immoral they are.

At this point their moral principles are tested. They either suppress their conscience (very easy to do) or they speak out (very hard to do). When they speak out, they lose their friends, but that is only the beginning. If they continue to speak out they put their life in danger.

Nonetheless, this is the path Connell chose to take. It is the very path Christ took.

Christians either need to deny Christ or take on the challenge presented by Him.

John 18:37 …“For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”

If they would do what Connell did, the Republican Party would reform.

Velvet Revolution, a non-profit investigating Connell’s activities, revealed this weekend that Connell had recently said he was afraid George Bush and Dick Cheney would “throw [him] under the bus.” Cliff Arnebeck had also previously alerted Attorney General Michael Mukasey to alleged threats from Karl Rove to Connell if he refused to “take the fall.”

He reported threats to his lawyer, Cliff Arnebeck, and Arnebeck all these people were saying Rove is making threats, the White House is very worried about this case.”This man should be in protective custody. He is an important witness in a RICO case. Please do something

Iranian President Congratulates Obama on Election Win

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has written Obama a congratulatory letter following his election win. It’s the first time since the 1979 Iranian revolution that an Iranian leader has congratulated the winner of an American presidential election. Obama has pledged to meet with Iranian leaders without preconditions. In his letter, Ahmadinejad suggests Iran would be open to talks with the United States in accordance with previous overtures that the Bush administration ignored. Ahmadinejad also writes that he hopes “the unjust actions of the past 60 years will give way to a policy encouraging full rights for all nations, especially the oppressed nations of Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan.”
