Always Do Good Work

Those who do more than they are paid for will sooner or later be willingly paid for more than they do.
If you consistently do more than you are paid to do — whether you are a professional, an executive, an hourly worker, or an entrepreneur — you will eventually be compensated for far more than you do. If you give more and better service than those around you, customers will beat a path to your door, and your boss will consider you irreplaceable. With the dearth of outstanding service that exists in the world today, you can instantly differentiate yourself from the competition simply by providing good service.

Eph 6:5-8 Servants, respectfully obey your earthly masters but always with an eye to obeying the real master, Christ. 6 Don’t just do what you have to do to get by, but work heartily, as Christ’s servants doing what God wants you to do. 7 And work with a smile on your face, always keeping in mind that no matter who happens to be giving the orders, you’re really serving God. 8 Good work will get you good pay from the Master, regardless of whether you are slave or free.

It’s mighty easy

It’s mighty easy to justify dishonesty if you make your living from it.
The subconscious mind makes no moral judgments. If you tell yourself something over and over, your subconscious mind will eventually accept even the most blatant lie as fact. Those whose lives and careers have been destroyed by dishonest behavior began the process of self-destruction when they convinced themselves that one slight infraction of the rules wouldn’t matter.

When you sell yourself on an idea, make sure the idea is positive, beneficial to you, and harmless to others. Just as negative thoughts and deeds return to their originator, so do positive ones. When you practice honest, ethical behavior, you set in motion a force for good that will return to you many times over.

The Grassroots Democracy Act

H.R. 6426

John Sarbanes

Congressman Sarbanes has introduced the Grassroots Democracy Act, a comprehensive campaign finance reform proposal that would build a new system where the strongest voice in American politics is the everyday voter.

The bill paves a new way forward that helps more Americans participate in Congressional elections, amplifies the effect of grassroots campaign contributions, and gives the people a voice to fight back against Super PACs and special interests.

Overview of the Bill

Grassroots Democracy Dollars

Establish a refundable tax credit to encourage grassroots campaign giving, stimulate outreach by campaigns to new voter populations, and foster civic engagement from a broader group of Americans. Also, launch a pilot Democracy Dollar voucher program to develop the necessary infrastructure for a successful voucher program.

Grassroots Campaign Financing System

Implement a multiple match system for grassroots campaign contributions ($100 or less) to amplify the impact of grassroots donors. Preserve key aspects of the current fundraising system to provide a “bridge” to adoption for candidates of the prevailing campaign financing system.

Grassroots Democracy People’s Fund

Establish a “citizen-owned” People’s Fund to provide immediate support to grassroots-supported candidates in elections where outside spending (i.e. non-candidate, non-party spending such as that of a super PAC and 501(c)4 organizations) significantly outpaces national norms.

Grassroots Democracy Commission

Create a Grassroots Democracy Commission charged with providing oversight of the various Grassroots Democracy provisions, regularly reviewing the efficacy of the various programs and making recommendations for reform to Congress.

Expanding Candidate and Party Access to Affordable Advertisements

Increase Congressional candidates and national political party access to affordable advertisements by instituting reforms to current Lowest Unit Charge (LUC) provisions.

Grassroots Democracy Offsets

Provide funding for the Grassroots Democracy Act by setting a new statutory tax rate for the investment income of political organizations, tightening loopholes that allow political organizations to avoid paying taxes, taxing social welfare organizations engaged in significant levels of political activity, as well as PAC registration and bundler registration fees. The plan would also institute an online voluntary donation platform and taxpayer contribution check-boxes so that people may voluntarily contribute funding for the system.
